Molten, liquid glass has the unique capacity of being independently plastic, matching the dynamics and creativity of nature in movement. However, the movement of hot glass always slows down. The quick moment of movement becomes irrevocable history and can only be interpreted from the form of the set glass objects.
In my work, I try to create channels of movement for the molten glass, following the laws of physics, avoiding forced direction. I expand these forms into narrative segments and reconstruct the movement step by step, aiming at awakening the past movement from its static state and thus conveying the experience of the nature of liquid glass to viewers. |
Technique
ast and cold worked (sliced) glass and pedestal with lighting.
In wave domino a wavy movement of hot glass is sliced up to brief time segments and spread out. The logic in the behavior of molten glass becomes visually evident as profiles of the wave explain the movement phase by phase.
